Searching for a Forex Trading Broker

from:

Contributed by Ron Curtis

Forex trading using a broker's services is especially important if you are just starting out in the forex business. You will need the help of someone who knows the ropes - someone who will give you useful tips and advice on how to run your business. That someone would be your forex trading broker.

Forex brokers do not make the decisions themselves - they take instructions from you, the trader. Don't get overly dependent on them for advice etc. and ask them everything you need to know although this may be appropriate in the early days of your forex trading education. Always bear in mind that you need to acquire as much knowledge and experience as possible and this is done in part by working on your own at your own pace and yes making some mistakes along the way! However, working together with your forex broker can bring benefits to your forex trading experience.

Here are some of the characteristics to look for in a good forex trading broker:

1. Registered broker:

It's important that you know your broker is a registered member of a well-known and established financial institution. This is an assurance that he or she will have access to the necessary funds that you will need in your trade.

2. On-call broker:

Make sure you will be able to contact your forex trading broker whenever you need to make enquiries regarding your trade. Forex trading is a round-the-clock kind of business and your broker should be well aware of this and be ready to answer your queries anytime of the day or night!

Put your broker to the test and check out the contact details given to you and see how fast he/she can respond to your enquiries. You might also want to test his/ her skills and decide if the response given will become useful in your future dealings.

3. Experienced broker:

Any broker worth his/her salt will be able to provide testimonials from satisfied clients. Ask to see these or to speak to the people concerned to find out if the broker is able to execute a trade quickly and successfully. Try to contact two or more people to be sure you are getting the proper feedbacks about the forex trading broker's service.

4. Cost-effective broker:

Your broker is operating in a highly competitive market and one of the biggest issues facing both of you is the cost of the service provided. The more experienced the broker is the higher the fee/commission/charge he/she is able to levy for their services.

Exactly what are you getting for your money and can you get a better deal by shopping around? For the price you have to pay be certain in your own mind that you will be getting value for money. Make comparisons with other brokers if you have to but remember you nearly always get what you pay for! If you want a basic service get a basic price and if you want a premium service naturally this will cost more. Tailor the cost to your needs.

If you keep these characteristics in mind when looking for a forex trading broker your time will be spent profitably and get your trading off on the right foot .
